When people take to the streets to protest discriminatory and oppressive structures, their bodies are often used to make a statement. To stand up for themselves. This go beyond literal bodies on the streets. The way people choose to style themselves often drives these cause and movement further - it helps then become etched in our memories. While not always immediately obvious when we speak about activism and protests, fashion and styling have always played a principal role.
Stand up, Stand out is a part visual art piece, part documentary and ode to anthropology academia. It will use short film elements of each era to pay homage to looks that have fought for change and helped use enjoy the freedoms we have today.
